Title: The Status of Taxi Plate Holders and Taxi Drivers in Labour and Social Security Law Among Taxi Applications, Taxi Plate Holders, Intermediaries
Authors: Karadeniz, O.
Publisher: IGI Global
Abstract: Labour relationships within commercial taxi companies in Türkiye are notably complicated. Some of the taxi owners work themselves and/or employ drivers by a labour contract, whereas some others lease out their taxi plates through intermediary companies. The person who hires the taxi either works himself and/or employs drivers by a labour contract. Additionally, some taxi drivers operate over some online platforms. The income obtained from taxis is shared among taxi plate holders, intermediaries, leaseholders, online platforms and employees working as taxi drivers. Purpose of this study is to determine the nature of contracts between these parties in Türkiye and to analyse the status of taxi plate holders, leaseholders, online platforms as well as drivers under the Labour and Social Security Law in connection with relevant contracts. Both qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques were used in the study. The qualitative data collection comprised interviews and document review. © 2025, IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
