8. Sınıf öğrencilerinin üslü ifadeler ile ilgili sayı duyularının sayı duyusu bileşenleri bakımından incelenmesi [Master Thesis]

Abstract

Bu çalışmada 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin üslü sayılar ile ilgili sorularda sayı duyularının, sayı duyusu bileşenleri bakımından incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın pilot uygulaması Denizli İl merkezinde eğitim veren bir devlet okulunun üç 8. sınıf öğrencisi ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın asıl uygulaması ise aynı devlet okulunun yirmi 8. sınıf öğrencisi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Görüşme yapılacak öğrencileri belirlemek amacıyla Pitta-Pantazi, Christou ve Zachariades (2007) tarafından geliştirilen üslü sayı çiftlerini karşılaştırma testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nitel verileri araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen 11 görüşme sorusu yardımıyla toplanmıştır. Öğrenciler ile yapılan görüşmelerden elde edilen veriler nitel tekniklerle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada, 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin üslü sayılara yönelik sorularda başarılı bir şekilde sayı duyularını kullanamadıkları sonucuna varılmıştır. Öğrencilerin kısa ve pratik yöntemler yerine uzun zaman alan ve işleme dayalı çözümlere yöneldiği görülmüştür. Araştırma, sorunun yapısının sayı duyusu kullanımını belirleyen önemli bir faktör olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Araştırmanın sonucunda öğrencilerin işlemlerin etkilerini anlama sayı duyusu bileşenine yönelik yetersizliklerinin olduğu görülmüştür.

The aim of this study is to analyze 8 grade students? exponential number sense in terms of number sense components. Pilot implementation of the research was carried out by 8th grade students from a public elementary school in the city center of Denizli. Main implementation of the research was carried out by twenty 8th grade students in the same school. The exponentials pairs comparison test, developed by Pitta-Pantazi and Zachariades Christou (2007), was used to determine the interviewees. Qualitative data of the study were collected with 11 interview questions developed by the researcher. The data obtained from interviews were analyzed using qualitative techniques. The result of the research showed that the use of numbers sense of the 8th grade students were quite low. In addition, students tended to use standard procedures instead of short, time consuming and practical methods. Structure of question has emerged as an important factor in determining the use of number sense. The research showed that students were inadequate in understanding the effects of operations.
