Authors: Sarı, Mehmet Ali
Keywords: Verification; scientific progress; demarcation problem; theory choice;
falsification

Abstract: In this study, logical positivism, Popper, Duhem and Lakatos' understandings of science will be discussed in terms of how they define demarcation problem and their answers the mentioned problem. Their ideas regarding demarcation problem indeed are very close to each other in spite of the fact that they seem to offer opposite solutions since they adopt a scientific rationality in terms of expressing general principles and rules. It will be claimed that this rationality prescribed for science to be different superficially and basically very connected.
