Kurt Gödel'in eksiklik teoremleri ve Platonculuğu üzerine felsefi bir inceleme

Abstract

Bu çalışmada Kurt Gödel'in eksiklik teoremleri, bu teoremlerin ortaya çıkmasını sağlayan önemli olaylarla ve bu olayların felsefi arka planıyla birlikte incelenmiştir. Ayrıca Gödel'in Platonculuğu ve onun XX. yüzyılın başındaki matematiğin temelleri tartışmaları hakkındaki görüşleri de incelenmiştir. Bu inceleme şu sorular etrafında yapılmıştır: 1. Gödel'in eksiklik teoremleri matematiksel bilginin kesinliği açısından neyi ifade eder? 2. Gödel'in eksiklik teoremleri ve onun matematik felsefesine ilişkin Platoncu görüşleri akılcı felsefe açısından neyi ifade eder? Çalışma üç bölümden oluşmuştur. Birinci bölümde Gödel'in eksiklik teoremlerinin ortaya çıkmasını sağlayan süreç incelenmiştir. İkinci bölümde ise Gödel'in eksiklik teoremleri, Platonculuğu ve matematiğin temellerine ilişkin görüşleri incelenmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde ele alınan sorular cevaplanmaya çalışılmıştır. İncelemenin sonunda şu sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır: 1. Eksiklik teoremleri matematiğin mutlak kesinliğe sahip bir bilim olmadığını gösterir. Belirli bir matematiksel teorinin hiçbir zaman yanlış bir matematiksel önermeyi kanıtlamayacağı önceden görülemez. Şu halde belirli bir matematik teorisinin başarısı ancak tümevarımsal olarak görülebilir. 2. Ne eksiklik teoremlerinin sonuçları ne de Gödel'in Platonculuğu, akılcı felsefe için olumsuz sonuçlardır. In this work, Kurt Gödel?s incompleteness theorems were studied with the important events leading these theorems and the philosophical background of these events. Also, Gödel?s views about the debates of the foundations of mathematics that were occurred in the beginning of 20th century and his Platonism were studied, too. This study was made around these questions: 1. What do Gödel?s incompleteness theorems mean within the frame of the certainty of mathematical knowledge? 2. What do Gödel?s incompleteness theorems and his Platonist views mean within the frame of the rationalist philosophy? The work consists of three parts. In the first part, the process leading Gödel?s incompleteness theorems was studied. In the second part, Gödel?s incompleteness theorems, his Platonism and his views on the foundations of mathematics were studied. In the third part, the questions that were concerned were tried to be answered. At the end of the study, these conclusions were made: 1. Incompleteness theorems imply that mathematics is not a science which has absolute certainty. It may not be precedingly noticed that a certain mathematical theory will never prove a false mathematical proposition. So, the success of a certain mathematical theory may only be seen inductively. 2. Neither the results of incompleteness theorems nor Gödel?s Platonism are negative results for the rationalist philosophy. Key Words: Gödel, Hilbert, incompleteness, consistency.
