Abstract: During the reconstruction works of Denizli-Pamukkale road, within the boundaries of Korucuk district in Denizli, some funeral structures have been unearthed, some of which have been destroyed by the modern road. After the rescue excavation carried out in three different trenches by Denizli Museum Directorate, various type of graves such as vaulted hypogeum, vaulted hypogeum with arcosolium, stone built cist, tile covered pit and terracotta pipe have been unearthed. This site in question is located in the East Road, which is still used today and extends from the Syrian Gate of Laodikeia to the ancient city of Colossae. Across this ancient road also lie the tombs, and the road is also characterized as the necropolis path. The plan types and the remains of the tomb structures unearthed have established that the necropolis site was utilized from Hellenistic Period to the early 7th century A.D., which is when the city was abandoned.
