Seydi Ali Reis-Kitabü'l-Muhit

Abstract

Seydi Ali Reis, genel tarih içerisinde ve bilim dünyasında en başta denizciliğiyle akla gelen bir isim olmuştur. Denizciliğin yanında edebiyat, matematik, geometri, astronomi gibi bilim dallarıyla da meşgul olmuş, bu alanlarda eser vermiş veya eserlerini hazırlarken bu bilimlerden istifade etmiştir. Seydi Ali Reis'in dört eserinden biri olan Kitabü'l-Muhit'i Topkapı Sarayı Revan Köşkü'nden temin ettik. Eserin temininden sonra eseri Osmanlı alfabesinden Türk transkripsiyon alfabesine aktardık. Sadece bir yerde bulunan Farsça beyitleri eserde bulunduğu şekliyle tezimizde verdik. Eserin transkripsiyon alfabesine çevirisinden sonra eseri ses ve şekil bilgisi yönüyle inceledik. Eserde görülen belli başlı dil özelliklerini ve sözük türlerini tespit ederek bunlarla ilgili örnekler verdik. Son olarak eserde geçen yer ve kişi adlarını bir dizin haline getirdik. Eserimizde çokça bulunan yer adlarını öncelikle müellifin yaptığı harekelemelere göre okuduk. Harekelemenin bulunmadığı yer adlarını ise okunması muhtemel şekilleriyle okuduk. Bunun yanında eserimizin bazı bölümlerini çalışmış olan Hammer'in yer adlarını okuma biçimlerini de göz önüne alarak; bu çalışmada olan yer adlarını dipnot olarak verdik. Eserde 16. yy. Türkçesinin özellikleri ve Eski Anadolu Türkçesinin etkileri açıkça görülmektedir. Yine bu dönemin genel eğilimi olan Arapça ve Farsça sözcük kullanımı eserimizde gördüğümüz durumlardan biridir. 16. yy başta coğrafya, tarih, astronomi bilimleri ve bu dönem Türkçesi hakkında önemli bilgileri içeren bu eserin yine bu bilim dallarına katkı sağlayayacağı ümidindeyiz. Ayrıca eserde geçen yer adlarının bugünkü yer adlarıyla kıyaslamasının çalışılması ayrıca değerlendirilmesi gereken bir konudur.

Seydi Ali Reis has been a name known firstly for his seamanship in general history and the world of science. Besides seamanship, he was engaged with such sciences such as geometry, maths, literature, astronomy; he has given works in these areas or he got help from these sciences while preparing his works. We have obtained Kitabü'l-Muhit, one of Seydi Ali Reis's four works, from Topkapı Palace Revan Kiosque. After obtaining the work, we have transferred the work to Turkish transcription alphabet from Ottoman alphabet. We have added Persian couplets found only in one place to the thesis as they are. After the translation of the work to transcription alphabet, we have analyzed the work in the concept of phonology and morphology. We have given examples about the principal language characteristics and word types seen in the work by determining them. Finally, we have resolved the names of place and people as an index. We have read the place names found often in the work by the signs of the author. We have read the unsigned place names as it is possible. We have also given the place names as footnote by considering the styles of reading the place names of Hammer who has already studied some parts of the work. 16th century Turkish characteristics and the effects of Old Anatolian Turkish are clearly seen in the work. Usage of Arabic and Persian words, general tendancy of that period, is also one of the cases that we have seen in the We are in the hope of the fact that this work will again help the departments of the 16th century geography, history, astronomy and that period Turkish that are presented in the work. The study of comparing the names of the places with the present namesis another course that has to be studied.
