Tarih-i Cevdet'e göre Napolyon ve Mısır meselesi

Abstract

Ahmet Cevdet Paşa, Osmanlı Devleti'nin en büyük tarihçisidir. Kendisini her alanda geliştirmiş ve ölümsüz eserler meydana getirmiştir. Bu eserlerinin başında Tarih-i Cevdet gelir. Tarih-i Cevdet, Osmanlı Devleti'nin 1774 - 1826 yılları arasında geçen olaylarını anlatır. Ancak Paşa, eserini bu tarihlerle sınırlandırmamıştır. Eserinin başında geniş bir şekilde İslam Tarihi'ne yer verir. Bunun yanı sıra bir olayı anlatmadan önce o konuyla ilgili geniş bir malumat verdikten sonra anlatmak istediği olaya geçer. Ahmet Cevdet Paşa'nın en önemli özelliğinden birisi de olaylara, kişilere ve kurumlara eleştirel bir gözle bakabilmesidir. Tezimizde, Ahmet Cevdet Paşa tarafından kaleme alınan Tarih-i Cevdet (Cevdet Tarihi) adlı eserin içerisinde geçen Napolyon ve Mısır konularının incelemesi yapılmıştır. Bu eserin iki önemli konusu olan Napolyon ve Mısır Meselesi tezin içeriğini oluşturmaktadır. Napolyon Bonapart'ın Mısır'a gelmeden önceki durumu, Mısır'daki ve Mısır'dan çıktıktan sonraki faaliyetleri ve Napolyon gittikten sonra Mısır'ın iç durumu hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Bu bağlamda Napolyon'un Mısır'ı istila etmesinin Osmanlı Devleti'ne olan etkileri anlatılmıştır. Ayrıca Mısır'ın istila edilmesiyle Fransa, İngiltere ve Rusya gibi devletlerin Osmanlı Devleti ile olan münasebetlerini nasıl etkilediğinden söz edilmiştir. Mehmet Ali Paşa'nın Mısır'a gelişi ve faaliyetleri üzerinde de durulmuştur. O'nun Mısır'da düzeni kurarken mücadele ettiği Vehhabiler ve Kölemenlerden de söz edilmiştir.

Ahmet Cevdet Pasha was the greatest historian in the Ottoman State. He developed himself in different areas and also published immortal works. The most important work of Ahmet Cevdet Pasha is Tarih-i Cevdet. Tarih-i Cevdet is about the events in Ottoman States between the years 1774 - 1826. Hardly, Pasha didn?t limited his work with only these years. He gave extensive knowledge about the Islamic History at the beginning of his work. In addition to this, before he reported an event, firstly he had given extreme knowledge about the issue and then he proceeded to the subject he wanted to describe. One of his most important speciality was that he could critize the events, people and institutions. Based on having lived in the last period of Ottoman State, he became a highly important person for our knowledge. In our thesis, we examined Napoleon and Egypt subjects in Tarih-i Cevdet which was written by Ahmet Cevdet Pasha. Napoleon and Egypt, which were the subjects of his work, are two important questions of the contents in this thesis. Napoleon's situation before coming to Egypt, Napoleon in Egypt, and Egypt, after going after exiting activities and provided information about the internal state of Egypt. Napoleon's invasion of Egypt in this study is that the Ottoman Empire and France, Britain and Russia discussed the effects of states. In addition, the arrival of Mehmet Ali Pasha in Egypt, and activities were also discussed. We also mentioned about the battles that he had with Mamluks and Wahhabians during his attemps to set up a new layout in Egypt.
