Halide Edib Adıvar'ın Vurun Kahpeye, Sinekli Bakkal, Tatarcık; Peyami Safa'nın Sözde Kızlar, Cumbadan Rumbaya, Yalnızız romanlarında doğu-batı ikileminde eğitim problemlerinin karşılaştırılması

Abstract

Edebiyat eserlerinin bizlere, yazıldığı ve konu edildiği dönem hakkında toplumsal, kültürel ve tarihi açıdan oldukça zengin malzemeler sağladığı açıktır. Yanlış Batılılaşma da dönem yazarlarınca en çok kaleme alınan, dikkat çekilmek istenen konu haline gelir. Özellikle Tanzimat'tan itibaren Türk romanının temel meselesini oluşturan yanlış Batılılaşmanın sebep olduğu kültür ve kimlik karmaşası, bu duruma kayıtsız kalamayan dönem yazarlarının eserlerinde birincil konu olarak karşımıza çıkar. Tanzimat'tan başlayarak Batı gerçeğinin Türkiye'de gereği gibi anlaşılamadığı görüşünde olan yazarlarımızın başında Halide Edib Adıvar ve Peyami Safa gelmektedir. Batıyı bütün yönleriyle bir bütün olarak kavrayamama ve onu sadece biçimsel ve yüzeysel olarak algılamanın körü körüne bir Batı taklitçiliğine yol açtığını; bunun sonucunda da manevî, ahlâkî ve millî değerlerimizin göz ardı edildiğini söyleyen yazarlarımız, Doğu-Batı sentezinden yana olduklarını her fırsatta dile getirirler. Aynı hassasiyeti eğitim konusunda da gösteren sanatçılarımız, uygulanan eğitim sistemine yaptıkları eleştiri ve bu sorunlara getirdikleri çözüm önerileriyle de dikkat çekerler. Çalışmamda, bu iki yazarın seçilen romanlarında Doğu-Batı ikilemi ve bu çatışmanın eğitimde yarattığı problemleri ele alış biçimleri karşılaştırılacaktır. It is clear that the literary works provide us with substantial material in terms of societal, cultural and historical aspects of the period they are written in and are written about. Wrong Westernization comes out to be the subject which is the most frequently written about and which is tried to draw attention to by the authors of that period. Especially, the culture and identity confusion caused by the wrong Westernization, being the key issue of Turkish novels as from the Tanzimat reform era, appears to be the primary subject in the works of the term authors who could not be unconcerned with that conjuncture. Halide Edib Adıvar and Peyami Safa are our leading novelists who have the opinion that as of the Tanzimat reform era, the Western reality couldn?t be understood properly in Turkey. These writers who told that not to be able to comprehend the West as a whole in all its aspects and to perceive it merely as stylistically and superficially lead to a blind imitation of the West and that as a result, our moral, ethical and national values were neglected, declared on all occasions that they were on the side of the synthesis of East and West. Displaying the same sensitivity on the subject of education, the aforementioned writers also stand out with their criticism they make about the applied education system and with the solutions they offer for these problems. In this study, the East-West dilemma in the selected novels of these two writers is explored and the ways they handle the problems that this conflict caused in education are compared.
