Ekonomik özgürlükler ve sosyoekonomik refah arasındaki ilişki: Seçilmiş ülkeler ve Türkiye örneği

Abstract

Alan yazın tarandığında ekonomik özgürlüklerin, ekonomik büyümeyi ve refahı artırdığına yönelik birçok çalışmaya rastlamak mümkündür. Bununla birlikte yakın dönemde yapılan çalışmalarda değişen refah algısındaki anlayışa paralel olarak ekonomik özgürlüklerin, sosyal ve ekonomik refahı bir bütün olarak ele alan daha kapsamlı yaşam refah unsurlarıyla değerlendirildiği görülebilir. Bu bağlamda çalışmada ekonomik özgürlükler ve sosyoekonomik refah arasındaki ilişki seçilmiş 57 ülke ve Türkiye örneğinde, 1998-2018 yıllarını kapsayan dönemde, zaman serisi ve panel veri analizi yöntemiyle araştırılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda, ekonomik özgürlükler ve sosyoekonomik refah arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada elde edilen bulgular neticesinde, bazı ülkelerde ekonomik özgürlük endekslerindeki artışın sosyoekonomik refahı artırdığı bazı ülkelerde ise azalttığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Bununla birlikte örneklemde yer alan ülkelerin gelir ve bölge gruplarına göre sınıflandırılarak yapılan analiz sonuçları doğrultusunda, ekonomik özgürlükler ve sosyoekonomik refah arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

When the literature is reviewed it is possible to come across many studies that show that economic freedom increases economic growth and prosperity. However in recent studies parallel to the changing perception of prosperity, it can be seen that economic freedom has been evaluated with more comprehensive life welfare elements that address social and economic welfare as a whole. In this sense in the study the relationship between economic freedom and socioeconomic welfare was investigated within the context of 57 selected countries and in the case of Turkey by including the time period between 1998 and 2018 through time-series analysis and panel data analysis methods. According to the results of the analyses, a statistically significant relationship was found between economic freedom and socioeconomic welfare. Based upon the findings obtained in the study, it was concluded that the increase in economic freedom indices in some countries increased socioeconomic welfare while it decreased socioeconomic welfare in some other countries. In addition, regarding the analysis performed by classifying the countries in the sample in terms of income and regional groups, it was concluded that there was a statistically significant relationship between economic freedom and socioeconomic welfare.
