Sürdürülebilirlik endeksi kapsamına alınmanın hisse senedi değerine etkisi: BIST uygulaması

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı BİST firmalarının BİST Sürdürülebilirlik Endeksi oluşturulduktan sonra bu endekse dâhil edilmesiyle hisse senedi değerlerinde bir değişim yaşanıp yaşanmadığını incelemektir. Çalışma kapsamında endekste işlem gören 42 firmanın 2014-2016 yılları arası finansal verileri kullanılmıştır. Analizler yatay kesit verilerini ve zaman serisi verilerini içermekte olduğundan çalışmada panel veri analiz teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulguları, sürdürülebilirlik endeksine dâhil olmanın firmaların hisse senedi değerleri üzerinde herhangi bir etkisinin bulunmadığını ortaya koymuştur. Ayrıca, elde edilen sonuçlar ekonomik fayda açısından endeksin firmalara henüz beklenen katkıyı sağlayamadığını göstermiştir.

The goal of this study is to examine whether there has been a change in stock values of BIST firms after the inclusion in BIST Sustainability Index. Within the scope of the study, financial data belonging to 42 firms listed in the sustainability stock indice were used years between 2014-2016. Since analyzes include both cross sectional data and time series data, panel data techniques was used in the study. Research findings show that inclusion in the sustainability stock indice has no effect on stock values of firms. Besides, the results performed that the sustainability stock indice could not have provided economic benefits for firms yet.
