Abstract: Route choice in urban transportation networks is a complex decision making problem for the road users. This decision has resulted in different ways such as increase in transportation cost and negative effects on driver psychology. Travel time, congestion, safety and environmental effects are the important criteria that should be taken in to account in route choice. Selection of the convenient route under determined criteria using the information axiom will be realized in this study. The Information axiom, the second axiom of Axiomatic Design (AD) principles, proposes the selection of the proper alternative that has minimum information content. Axiomatic approach including crisp information axiom for complete information and fuzzy information axiom for incomplete information is used as a tool for the evaluation of alternative routes in Denizli.
