Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To determine maternal and fetal outcomes in grandmultiparity STUDY DESIGN: In this study we reviewed 942 grandmultiparous women who delivered in our hospital in the period of January 1st, 1*992 to July 31st, 1994; and 1000 nongrandmultiparous women delivered in the same hospital and same period and selected by systematically sampling method from a total number of 49321 nongrandmultiparous deliveries. RESULTS: Comparation of grandmultiparous and nongrandmultiparous group îevealed no statistically significant difference between the rates in these groups regarding diabetes, preterm labor, antepartum or postpartum haemorrhage, operative vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections and, neonatal morbidity and mortality. The rate of hypertensive disorders during pregnancy in the grandmultiparous group was significantly greater than the one in the nongrandmultiparous group. CONCLUSION: Grandmultiparae who attend and delivered in a modern tertiary care center are not exposed to increased risk. (Gynecol Obstet Reprod Med 1997; 3:335-336)
