Abstract: Entrapment of coronary angioplasty hardware is one of the rare complications of percutaneous coronary artery interventions. We reported herein a case of 58-year-old man with an entrapped balloon catheter and guidewire within the right coronary artery during the application of a conventional balloon angioplasty for in-stent restenosis. Surgical removal of the entrapped balloon catheter and guidewire was performed successfully with a coronary artery bypass grafting to the affected vessel. The application of the balloon angioplasty for in-stent restenosis requires every caution against such type of complications. © 2007 by Blackwell Futura Publishing, Inc.
