Abstract: In this present study, the nuclear DNA amounts, the pollen and seed micromorphologies of Silene caryophylloides subsp. echinus and S. denizliensis, which are endemic to Turkey, are investigated. Their nuclear DNA amounts are reported for the first time. Pollens are prolate -spheroidal, aperture periporate, ornamentation microechinate-perforate. Seeds are reniform, with surface concave, light or dark-brown colored and ornamentation granulate -tuberculate. Flow cytometric measurements revealed that the nuclear DNA amounts were on average 2.41 +/- 0.02 pg nuclear DNA (2C) in S. caryophylloides subsp. echinus and on average 3.75 0.12 pg nuclear DNA (2C) in S. denizliensis.
