Abstract: Vehicle routing is an optimization problem that determines the shortest path to take while delivering products to consumers. Recently, increasing environmental awareness has led scientists and practitioners to find solutions to reduce the emission gases that cause environmental pollution. These environmental concerns are taken into account in the solution of the green vehicle routing problem, a variant of the vehicle routing problem. For this reason, it has become a frequently studied subject in the literature in recent years. The Modified Cuckoo Search Algorithm, a swarm-based optimization approach, was used in this study to provide a solution to the green vehicle routing problem. When the solutions obtained as a result of the experiments with two different solution models were examined, it was concluded that the method could not show the performance it showed in continuous optimization problems despite the changes made on it. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
