Abstract: Switched reluctance motors (SRMs) have become strong candidates for light electric vehicles due to their many advantages. SRMs have a non-linear flux characteristic because they have doubly salient structure. Therefore, the modeling of this motor is quite complex. In this study, a dynamic model of 6/8 external rotor SRM (ER-SRM) is carried out in MATLAB/Simulink. Magnetic characteristics of ER-SRM are obtained by finite element method (FEM). The speed control is examined for the variable speed and load values of the SRM. © 2022 IEEE.
