Studies made on cyclamen l. Species distributed in Turkey

Abstract

Located in the family Primulaceae, of the Cyclamen genus which showing areas in general coastal areas of Turkey grows the in its natural state 12 taxa and it is endemic 6 of these taxa. Cyclamen L. genus from Primulaceae family which have been used in traditional medicine, phytochemical content, ethnobotanical properties and biological activities of the species distributed in Turkey have been investigated. many phytochemicals study besides especially saponin content examined, terpenes, anthocyanins such compounds studies has been isolated. In this review information has been given about the biological activity (anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antifungal, antiseptic, insecticidal, cytotoxic and enzyme activity) studies were performed on Cyclamen species.
