Purpose: Ankle fractures account for 9% of all orthopedic trauma patients. Lauge-Hansen and Danis-Weber systems are commonly used ankle fracture classifications. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the interobserver agreement in both classifications of ankle fractures. Materials and Methods: In this study, the anteroposterior and lateral digital radiographs of 55 patients with ankle fractures were sent to 10 orthopedists by e-mail. One of the surveys was asked to categorize the fractures according to the Lauge-Hansen classification and in the other survey by the Danis-Weber classification. Results: Kappa index and Gwet’s AC were used to determine the agreement of orthopedists. Observers in the Danis-Weber classification found higher Kappa and Gwet’s AC than Lauge-Hansen. Conclusion: The classification systems used in the classification of ankle fractures should be easy to learn and easy to apply, interobserver and intra-observer compliance should be high. The interobserver level of the Danis- Weber classification was found to be high in this study. © 2019, Pamukkale University. All rights reserved.en_US
