Laodikeia'da bulunan Hellenistik Dönem sikkeleri (2002-2018 yılları)

Abstract

2002 yılında başlayan ve günümüze kadar devam eden Lykos Laodikeia'sı kazılarında kentin Hellenistik Dönem, Roma İmparatorluk ve Bizans Dönemi'ne tarihlendirilen yapıların bir kısmı ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Açığa çıkarılan sivil ve kamu yapıları, kentin ekonomik, siyasi, dini ve kültürel yapısı ile kent sakinlerinin yaşam standardı ile günlük hayata ait kullanım izlerini bizlere sunmaktadır.Çalışmanın ana konusu Laodikeia'nın kuruluşundan Augustus Dönemi'ne kadar geçen sürede darp ettiği sikkeler ile kazı çalışmalarında ele geçen ve aynı döneme tarihlenen sikkelerin katalog ve değerlendirmesini yapmaktır. Bu kapsamda ilk olarak Laodikeia'da darp edilen ve çeşitli kataloglarda yayımlanmış sikkeler hakkında özet bilgiler verilmiş ve bu sikkelerin internet ortamında yayınlanmış görselleri de eklenmiştir.Tezin katalog bölümünde ise Laodikeia'da gerçekleştirilen kazı çalışmalarında ele geçmiş Hellenistik Dönem'e tarihlendirilen sikkelerin teşhis, tanım ve değerlendirmesi yapılmıştır.Çalışma kapsamında değerlendirilen sikkelerin ön ve arka yüz betimlerinde yer alan ve neredeyse tamamı dinsel figür (tanrı, tanrıça ve atribütleri) ve sembollerden oluşan betimlemeler Laodikeia'da Hellenistik Dönem'de tapım gören tanrı ve tanrıçalar ile kültleri hakkında fikir edinmemizi sağlamaktadır. Söz konusu sikkelerin ön ve arka yüzlerinde tanrıça Aphrodite, şehir tanrıçası Tykhe (Laodike), kentin baş tanrısı Zeus, Apollon, Dionysos ve bu tanrılara ait çeşitli sembol ve simgeler ile kentin etrafındaki nehirler; Lykos ve Kapros'un personifikasyonları kurt ve yaban domuzu betimlerinin kullanıldığı görülmüştür.

In Laodikeia on the Lykos excavations, which began in 2002 and continued to date, some of the Hellenistic, Roman Empire and Byzantine periods buildings of the ancient site were unearthed. Unearthed civic and public buildings present us the economical, political, religious, and cultural side of the city, the standard of living of the dwellers, and traces of the daily life. The aim of this study, making catalogue and evaluation of the coins which dated between foundation of the site and till the Augustan period and coins which were gained through excavations and were dated to the same period. Within this scope, firstly, it was given some brief information on coins which was minted in Laodikeia and published in various catalogues and was added images of the coins which published in internet. In the catalogue chapter of the thesis, the Hellenistic period coins, gained through the excavations conducted in Laodikeia, were identified, described and evaluated. The depictions comprised of the religious figures (god, goddess and their atributes) and symbols located obverse and reverse of the coins which were evaluated in the scope of study, give some information about cults of the god and goddess revered in Laodikeia in Hellenistic period. On the obverse and reverse of mentioned coins, goddess Aphrodite, Tyche, patron-god of the Zeus, Apollo, Dionysos and various atributes belong to those gods and goddesses; furthermore, as the rivers around the city, Lykos and Kapros personificated as a wolf and a boar can be seen.
