Abstract: Background: The reality of learning environments is an effective tool in establishing the relationship between learning and real life. Simulation-based learning is the safe and adequate imitation of this reality. Objectives: This research was carried out with the aim of determining satisfaction state and the effect of simulation training given to students taking internal medicine nursing courses on anxiety and self-efficacy using standardized patients. Methods: It is planned as a semi-experimental research and 145 students constituted the sample group. In the data collection, Student Information Form, General Self-Efficacy Scale, State-Trait Anxiety Scale, Student Satisfaction Scale and Self-Confidence Scale were used. The data were analyzed using number, percentage, Pearson correlation test, t test in independent groups and single factor ANOVA test, and Bonferroni test in advanced analysis. Results: It was determined that the students who came to the department willingly had lower state and trait anxiety and their self-efficacy was higher (p <.05). In the post-test after the simulation training, the self-efficacy level of the students increased (p =.003). As the self-efficacy level increased, anxiety levels decreased and satisfaction levels increased (p <.01). Conclusion: Simulation practice increased the self-efficacy and safety of students and decreased anxiety, but their anxiety increased after clinical applications (p =.001). In line with these results, it is thought that simulation and education method is a suitable and effective method for nursing education, simulation applications should continue in parallel with clinical practice and should be added to the nursing curriculum. © 2022, Dokuz Eylul University.
