Title: | Tumour-Derived Exosome (TEX) mediated immune suppression | Authors: | Barış, İkbal Cansu | Keywords: | Cancer progression Exosome Immune suppression TEX Tumor microenvironment Tumour-derived exosome |
Publisher: | Nova Science Publishers, Inc. | Abstract: | Exosomes are membrane-enclosed vesicles 50-100 nm in diameter and of endocytic origin. They are released into the extracellular space by several cell types, such as epithelial cells, reticulocytes, B-cells, and tumor cells. Recently, studies have proposed that exosomes interceding intercellular communication in the tumor microenvironment (TME) play an essential role in cancer progression. As the importance of intercellular communication in the tumor microenvironment is emphasized, understanding the crosstalk between several tissue and immune cells has become the main target of cancer research. One of the important components that play a key role in intercellular communication in TME is exosomes released from tumor cells. These tumor-derived exosomes (TEX) reprogram the TME to contribute to cancer progression by transporting immunosuppressive proteins or various miRNAs to recipient cells. © 2023 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
