19. yüzyılda Mısır’ın Doğu Afrika’da yayılma siyaseti

Abstract

Mısır bulunduğu mevkii itibariyle Afrika’nın birçok önemli bölgesi ile irtibat kurmada avantajlı bir konumdadır. Özellikle Kuzey Afrika ve Doğu Afrika bu noktada dikkat çekicidir. Bu yüzden 19. yüzyıl içerisinde Mısır’da askeri ve ekonomik açıdan ilerlemeler kaydedilen dönemlerde Afrika içlerine doğru bir yayılma siyaseti gözlenmiştir. Kavalalı Mehmed Ali Paşa ile başlayan bu siyaset daha sonra da devam etmiştir. Kızıldeniz’in Afrika sahilleri ve Sudan içlerine doğru kendini gösteren bu yayılma siyaseti söz konusu dönem içinde oldukça karmaşık bir görüntü almıştır. Osmanlı Devleti bölgedeki mevcut haklarını bir noktada Mısır ile uyumlu olarak devam ettirirken Avrupa’nın bölgedeki etkin güçleri bu duruma şiddetle karşı çıkmışlardır. Ancak politikalar sürekli düz bir çizgi halinde devam etmemiş, o günün mevcut problemleri ve birbiriyle çatışan çıkarlar nedeniyle inişli çıkışlı politikalara sebebiyet vermiştir. Bu çalışma ile Mısır’ın 19. yüzyılda Afrika’da gerçekleşen yayılma siyasetinin ana hatları gösterilmeye çalışılacaktır. Osmanlı Devleti ve Avrupa devletlerinin bölgeye yaklaşımları yine yüzyıl içinde takip edilecektir

Egypt has an advantageous location in contacting with many of the important regions of Africa thanks to its geographic position. Especially, East Africa is remarkable at this point. Thus, during the periods of military and economic progress in Egypt in the 19th century, a policy of expansion towards Africa was pursued. This policy which started with Kavalalı Mehmed Ali Pasha continued later as well. This policy of expansion, which manifests itself towards the African coasts of the Red Sea and the Sudan, had taken a rather complex picture during the period in question. While Ottoman Empire maintained its existing rights in the region at one point in line with Egypt, the active forces of Europe in the region strongly opposed this situation. However, the policies did not go on in a straight line, they led to up and down policies due to the current problems of that period and conflicting interest. With this study, the outline of the policy of expansion of Egypt in Africa in the 19th century will be attempted to be demonstrated. The approaches of Ottoman State and the European states to the region will be monitored again within the century.
