Title: | Phytoremediation: Using Nasturtium officinale to clean up Zn++-contaminated wastewater | Authors: | Kara, Yeşim Opak | Keywords: | Absorption Heavy metal Nasturtium officinale (watercress) Phytoremediation Zinc bioremediation biotechnology heavy metal wastewater Nasturtium officinale Viridiplantae |
Abstract: | Phytoremediation is a new low-tech and low-cost biotechnological application of specific green plants to treat or remove environmental contaminants from water, soil and air. In this study the phytoremediation rates of Zn ++ ions by Nasturtium officinale (watercress) were observed. Nasturtium officinale was able only to accumulate lower, but not higher concentrations of Zn ++ ions. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/11499/5337 | ISSN: | 1018-4619 |
