Organs and glands of the reproductive system are necessary for the creation of new life (Lyons, 2021). The components of the female reproductive system are the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovary, vagina, and vulva (Standring, 2020). The components of the male reproductive system are the testes, scrotum, epididymis, ejaculatory duct, penis, and accessory sex glands (Standring, 2020). Ovarian and testicular cells are gonads with endocrine gland characteristics that support the development and maturation of the reproductive system. Furthermore, the ovaries are responsible for the synthesis and secretion of the sex steroid hormones estrogen and progesterone, and the testes are responsible for the synthesis and secretion of testosterone (Costanzo, 2022). In this chapter, the objective is to explain the anatomy and functions of the male and female reproductive systems. © 2023 Nova Science Publishers, Inc. All rights reserved.en_US
