Abstract: With the development of nanotechnology, the production and utilization of nanocomposites has increased. Mixing of different thermoplastic polymers with nanoadditives has been seriously studied recently. Polymer nanocomposites are among the most broadly utilized nanocomposites. Polymer nanocomposites are acquired by mixing nanosized fillers in the form of particles, tubes, or fibers during fiber spinning from melt to polymer matrices. In these mixtures, the interactions and interface formations in the polymer contain different equilibria. Thanks to the utilization of polymer nanocomposites, it is probable to manufacture stronger, more durable, and functional products. With the utilization of nanocomposites in the textile sector, it has been probable to produce textile products with antimicrobial, UV-resistant, high-strength, electrically conductive, and dirt-proof characteristics. In this chapter, information about nanomaterials used in the production of thermoplastic polymers, nanoparticles, nanocomposites, recent studies on them, and their commercial applications are summarized. In addition, different production techniques of nanocomposites were compared and how the production method changes the usage areas of nanocomposites was examined. Finally, related textile applications and their recent commercial developments were also discussed. © 2024 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
