Abstract: Plants, which form the basis of green ecology, are important raw material sources. In this study, the antioxidant, insecticidal and in vitro cytotoxic activities of extracts obtained from dried bulbs and leaves of the S. clusiana plant were evaluated. The antioxidant capacity of the extracts was also evaluated by DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity, P-carotene/linoleic acid test and FRAP analyses. The results showed that the highest ferulic acid compound was in the leaf-methanol extract with 2739.6 |ig/g. The highest total phenolics and flavonoids were found in onion-ethanol extract (9.77 ± 1.021 mg GAE/mL and 89.92 ± 2.052 mgQE/g), indicating their good antioxidant potential. Leaf-methanol extract caused higher larvicidal activity against C. pipiens than bulb-methanol extract. This is the first comprehensive study on the phenolic profiles and bioactivities of S. clusiana extracts. As seen from the results obtained, S. clusiana extracts have strong antioxidant, cytotoxic and larvicidal effects. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
