Modern Turkish Poetry in the Context of Negative Theology

Abstract

Tanrı, insanın var olduğu günden bugüne üzerinde düşünülen aşkın bir varlıktır. Gerçekten çok hakikatin alanında bulunan Tanrı'yı anlama ve anlamlandırma noktasında da dinlerin yanında pek çok inanç sistemi ve yolu doğmuştur. Tanrı hakkında düşünce üreten felsefî alanlardan birini de negatif teoloji oluşturur. Negatif teoloji, Tanrı'nın zatının ve mutlak varlığının, insan idrakini aştığını, bu nedenle de Tanrı'yı anlamak, sıfatlandırmak, tanımlamak ve açıklamanın mümkün olmadığını savunan bir sistemdir. Edebiyatta negatif teolojiyi örneklerken dilin ve kurgunun imkânlarından faydalanarak yeni söyleyiş biçimleri geliştirmek ve Tanrı'yı anlam alanlarının dışından, yani negatif teoloji açısından yeniden inşa etmek mümkündür. 'Negatif Teoloji Bağlamında Modern Türk Şiiri' adını taşıyan bu çalışma da disiplinlerarası çerçeve içerisinde mitoloji, teoloji ve felsefe alanlarından yararlanarak Türk şiirinde negatif teolojiyi aramak amacıyla yazılmıştır.

God has been a transcendent being contemplated by humanity since the beginning of existence. In the quest to understand and interpret God, alongside religions, many belief systems and philosophical approaches have emerged. One of the philosophical fields that produce thought about God is negative theology. Negative theology asserts that God's essence and absolute existence transcend human comprehension, making it impossible to understand, attribute qualities to, define, or explain God. In literature, while exemplifying negative theology, it is possible to develop new modes of expression by utilizing the possibilities of language and narrative, reconstructing the concept of God from outside the realms of meaning—through the lens of negative theology. This study, titled *'Negative Theology in the Context of Modern Turkish Poetry,'* aims to explore negative theology in Turkish poetry within an interdisciplinary framework, drawing from mythology, theology, and philosophy.
