Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease

Abstract

An 18-year-old female presented with bilateral visual loss following severe headache. She had bilateral serous retinal detachment in the fundus examination, multiple pinpoint leakage in fundus fluoresein angiography, and choroidal thickening in ultrasonography. As there was no history of ocular trauma or previous ocular surgery and the systemic evaluation was normal, the patient was diagnosed with probable Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease. The retina was completely attached by the treatment of steroid and cyclophosphamide combination in the first week. The ocular and systemic effects might be improved by appropriate treatment in VKH, which is a rare cause of uveitis in Turkey. VKH should be kept in mind especially in patients with bilateral visual loss following headache.
