Abstract: The negative impacts of climate change on water resources area major concern today. In this study, a comprehensive drought risk analysis was carried out for 18 different stations using meteorological data to determine the drought status of the Southeastern Anatolia Region. With the help of Standardized Precipitation Index and Exploratory Drought Index, detailed drought analyses were performed for 3, 6, 9 and 12 month's time intervals. For SRI, Golbasi station had the highest drought percentage in all time intervals except for the 6-month period. For CHI; Kilis station was the station with the highest drought percentage in the 9-12 month time intervals. Diyarbak & imath;r Airport was the station with the driest month in January 1971 with an index value of-4.56 for all time intervals in CWI analysis, while Diyarbak & imath;r Airport was the station with the driest month in January 1971 with an index value of -4.27 for all time intervals in CWI analysis. This study provides an important contribution to the issues of drought mitigation and sustainable management of water resources and will help effective water resources planning for the Southeastern Anatolia Region.
