Abstract: In this study the effect of geometrical dimensions and the internal wall velocity on turbulent flow and heat transfer in a helical square duct with movable wall are numerically analyzed. RNG k-? turbulent model and finite volume method are used in the numerical solutions. The validity of the numerical solutions are tested by previous experimental studies with different boundary conditions and it has been determined that the helical duct curvature ratio and the internal wall velocity have significant effects but the dimensionless helical pitch has not on the internal wall Nusselt number. ©2010 Academic Journals.
