Abstract

In this study, a solution algorithm that solves Intensity-Duration- Frequency relationship by using Genetic Algorithm (GA) optimization technique has been applied to four city centers in the GAP region. Modified coefficient of efficiency (E) is selected as an objective function and maximization of E is intended. Regional parameters of any mathematical model may be determined with GA method by appropriately fitting to the current data. Results showed that the developed solution algorithm that is alternatively proposed to determine Intensity-Duration-Frequency relationship gives accurate results for the cities located in the GAP region with the present solution algorithm, the weighting parameters may be determined in one-stage instead of any statistical computations and/or trial-error procedures.
