Publisher: | Turkish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation | Abstract: | Exercise is a type of physical activity consisting of planned, structured, and repetitive body movements to improve one or more components of physical fitness. The health-related components of physical fitness include cardiovascular (aerobic) fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition. A single exercise session should include the following phases: warm-up, stretching conditioning (aerobic exercise and/or muscle strengthening), and cool down. The principles of exercise prescription and specifications of FITT (Frequency, Intensity, Time and Type) are discussed in this review. © 2014 by Turkish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/11499/7466 https://doi.org/10.5152/tftrd.2014.25665 |
