The N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-silver(I) complexes, 3a–c of the type (NHC)AgCl were prepared from 1-(methyl)-3-(alkyl)-imidazolium chlorides (2a–c) by the reactions with Ag2O in dichloromethane as a solvent at room temperature. The complexes were characterized by elemental analyses and NMR spectroscopy. The catalytic activities of NHC-silver complexes were investigated in the three-component coupling reaction of aldehyde, alkyne, and amine to propargylamines. © 2017 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.en_US
