Abstract: Multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) methods deal with the selection process of an alternative among various alternatives in the presence of conflicting criteria. The intention of this paper is the presentation of a new integrated decision making approach based on step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis (SWARA) and operational competitiveness ratings analysis (OCRA) methods for solving a hotel selection problem. So in this paper, SWARA method is utilised to determine the weights of the criteria whereas OCRA method is executed to determine the ranking of the alternatives and select the best hotel. The novelty of this paper comes from being the first in integrating SWARA and OCRA methods and applying this integrated decision making approach for the hotel selection problem. © 2016 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
