Article Two New Records of Oak Gall Wasps (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) from Türkiye(Gazi Entomological Research Soc, 2025-12-01) Tataroglu, Musa; Katilmis, YusufTwo new records for the Turkish oak gall wasp fauna (Cynipidae: Cynipini) were recorded during a field study conducted in Burdur province, located in southwestern Turkiye. Andricus cryptobius Wachtl, 1880, and Dryocosmus destefanii Cerasa & Melika, 2018, were found for the first time on Quercus trojana Webb, a native oak species that is prevalent in this region. These new records expand the known diversity of cynipid species in Turkiye, enhancing knowledge of the oak gall wasp fauna and extending the known global distribution of these species. Data regarding the occurrence of the recorded species in Turkiye, their global distribution, and host plants are provided.Article Gall Wasp (Cynipoidea: Cynipidae) Fauna of Aydın Province (Türkiye)(Magnolia Press, 2025-09-23) Tataroglu, Musa; Katilmis, YusufIn order to document the gall wasp fauna (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) of Ayd & imath;n province, extensive field studies were conducted between 2023 and 2025. As a result of these surveys, a total of 51 species were determined. Gall samples were collected from 150 different localities within the study area from Quercus frainetto Ten., Quercus infectoria Olivier, and Quercus pubescens Willd. host plant species in section Quercus, as well as from Quercus cerris L. and Quercus ithaburensis Decne. in section Cerris, and from section Ilex, comprising Quercus coccifera L. and Quercus ilex L. Of the species previously known from the Cynipidae fauna of T & uuml;rkiye, 36 were recorded from Ayd & imath;n province for the first time through this study resulting in a total of 54 species now known for the province. For each species, data on distributions within the study area, and their host plants and/or host galls is provided.Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Three New Records of Gall Midges (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) From Türkiye(Gazi Entomological Research Soc, 2024-11-29) Tataroglu, Musa; Katilmis, Yusuf; Skuhrava, MarcelaThree new records for the Turkish gall midges (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) fauna were obtained for the first time from the seeds of Salvia sclarea L. collected during a field study in Denizli province, Türkiye. These new records are as follows: Arthrocnodax salviae Fedotova, 1995, Dasineura salviae (Kieffer, 1909) and Lasioptera salviae Schiner, 1868. The locations of the determined species in Türkiye, their world distribution and host plant data are provided.Article Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 3New species of gall wasps (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae: Aulacideini and Phanacidini) inducing galls on plants of the genera Sonchus and Crepis (Asteraceae) in Romania (Dobrogea Province) and notes on their parasitoids(Magnolia Press, 2024-06-17) Schiopu, Ion; Tataroglu, Musa; Katilmis, YusufTwo new species of herb gall wasps (Hym., Cynipidae) developing on plants in the genera Sonchus L. and Crepis L. (Asteraceae) are described from Southeastern Romania (Dobrogea Province): Aulacidea andriescui sp. n. gall inducer on Sonchus palustris L. and Phanacis dobrogicus sp. n. gall maker on Crepis foetida subsp. rhoeadifolia (M. Bieb.) & Ccaron;elak. In addition to the diagnosis, identification, morphological description, life-cycle, geographical distribution, photos of gall and host plant, and SEM images, data on the associated fauna obtained from the galls of the two new species are also presented.Article Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 3Gall wasp (Cynipoidea: Cynipidae and Diplolepididae) fauna of the Eastern Black Sea Region (Türkiye)(Magnolia Press, 2024-06-11) Tataroglu, Musa; Katilmis, YusufIn the period between October 2017 and September 2019, field studies were conducted with the aim of elucidating the gall wasp (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae and Diplolepididae) fauna of the Eastern Black Sea Region (Northeastern Türkiye). Gall samples were collected from 695 different localities within the research area, comprising a total of seven provinces (Artvin, Bayburt, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Ordu, Rize and Trabzon). As a result of these investigations, a total of 90 species belonging to 18 genera were recorded. Three of these species (Synergus consobrinus Giraud in Houard, 1911; S. reinhardi Mayr, 1872; S. ruficornis Hartig, 1840) represent new records for the inquiline (Synergini) fauna of Türkiye. The host plants, distributions, and distribution maps for all of the species recorded from the Eastern Black Sea Region are provided. © 2024 Magnolia Press.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 3Two New Species of Oak Gall Wasp (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae, Cynipini) from Türkiye(Magnolia Press, 2024-04-09) Tataroglu, Musa; Katilmis, YusufTwo new species of the genus Andricus Hartig, 1840 (Cynipidae: Cynipini), Andricus ismaili Tataroğlu & Katılmış sp. n. asexual generation on Quercus infectoria Olivier and Andricus musaazmazi Tataroğlu & Katılmış sp. n. sexual generation on Quercus trojana Webb are described from Türkiye. SEM images, gall photos, and data on the diagnosis, distribution, and biology of the two new species are provided. © 2024 Magnolia Press.Article Citation - WoS: 6Citation - Scopus: 6Cynipidae (Hymenoptera, Cynipoidea) fauna of Burdur province (Türkiye)(Magnolia Press, 2023-05-29) Demirel, Mustafa; Tataroglu, Musa; Katilmis, YusufField studies were conducted between September 2020 and June 2022 to assess the gall wasp (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) fauna of Burdur province (Southwestern Türkiye). A total of 69 species in 18 genera were recorded. Gall samples were collected from 150 samples collected in 100 different localities in the surveyed area. The identified species include three new records (Andricus melikai Pujade-Villar & Kwast, 2002; A. pseudocecconii Melika, Tavakoli & Stone, 2022; Saphonecrus undulatus (???r, 1872)) for the Turkish cynipid fauna. As a result of this study, 44 species of the current Turkish cynipid fauna were recorded from Burdur province for the first time. A checklist of the species and their host plants and/or host galls recorded in the study area is provided. The gall wasp richness and geomorphic-topographic structure of Burdur province is discussed.
