The present study examined associations among attitudes toward sugar relationships and relevant variables (e.g., sex, sociosexuality, gender inequality, parasitic exposure) in 69,924 participants across 87 countries. Two self-report measures of Acceptance of Sugar Relationships (ASR) developed for younger companion providers (ASR-YWMS) and older resource providers (ASR-OMWS) were translated into 37 languages. We tested cross-sex and cross-linguistic construct equivalence, cross-cultural invariance in sex differences, and the importance of the hypothetical predictors of ASR. Both measures showed adequate psychometric properties in all languages (except the Persian version of ASR-YWMS). Results partially supported our hypotheses and were consistent with previous theoretical considerations and empirical evidence on human mating. For example, at the individual level, sociosexual orientation, traditional gender roles, and pathogen prevalence were significant predictors of both ASR-YWMS and ASR-OMWS. At the country level, gender inequality and parasite stress positively predicted the ASR-YWMS. However, being a woman negatively predicted the ASR-OMWS, but positively predicted the ASR-YWMS. At country-level, ingroup favoritism and parasite stress positively predicted the ASR-OMWS. Furthermore, significant cross-subregional differences were found in the openness to sugar relationships (both ASR-YWMS and ASR-OMWS scores) across subregions. Finally, significant differences were found between ASR-YWMS and ASR-OMWS when compared in each subregion. The ASR-YWMS was significantly higher than the ASR-OMWS in all subregions, except for Northern Africa and Western Asia.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 6Ancient restoration practices in the Monumental Nymphaeum at Tripolis ad Maeandrum (Turkey): multi-analytical approach on Roman and Byzantine bonding mortars(Elsevier Masson s.r.l., 2023-09) Andreotti, Alessia; Bonaduce, Ilaria; Cantisani, Emma; Degano, Ilaria; Duman, Bahadir; Ismaelli, Tommaso; Salvadori, BarbaraThe study of ancient architectural restoration has recently gained attention in the field of archaeometry thanks to a new sensitivity for the long biographies of human artifacts. The paper focuses on ancient repairs documented in the column shafts of the Monumental Nymphaeum of Tripolis ad Maeandrum (Denizli, Turkey). Bonding mortars used to hold the ancient patches in place were sampled and analysed according to a multi-analytical protocol, coupling mineralogical and petrographic investigation (XRPD and OM) together with FT-IR and chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques (i.e. Py–GC–MS, GC–MS, HPLC-MS) for the characterisation of the inorganic and organic components. For the inorganic part, medium and fine-grained crystals of calcite are used as aggregates. As for the organic fractions, three different ingredients have been detected: egg, beeswax and Pinaceae resin. These multi-ingredient recipes detected in Tripolis are discussed with reference to ancient literary sources and the results of scientific investigations previously performed on ancient architectural repairs in the nearby city of Hierapolis of Phrygia, to highlight functional and chronological differences. © 2023 The Author(s)Article Improving hamiltonian energy equations on the kähler jet bundles(2013-01-10) Civelek, Sevket; Aycan, Cansel; Dagli, SimgeThe aim of this paper is to improve Hamiltonian energy equations for the complex jet bundles using Kähler manifolds. The coordinates on the bundle structure of Kähler manifolds have been given for real and imaginary dimensions. For given bundle structures, all fundamental geometrical properties have been investigated in Hamiltonian energy equations and applications to complex bundle structures. The improved Hamiltonian energy equations have been applied to the presented example in order to test its performance. Moreover, we have presented a new concept of velocity and time dimensions for energy movement equations. Results showed that imaginary Hamiltonian values are opposed to real Hamiltonian values in 2n dimensions. Finally, this study showed a physical application and interpretation of velocity and time dimensions in Hamiltonian energy equations for given examples. © 2013 World Scientific Publishing Company.
