Türkiye ve Azerbaycan'da enflasyon ile işsizlik oranı arasındaki ilişki: Phillips eğrisi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, 1996-2021 yıllarını kapsayan, Türkiye ve Azerbaycan ekonomisine ait enflasyon oranı ile işsizlik oranı arasındaki ilişki Phillips eğrisi üzerinden yorumlanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu iki değişken üzerinde meydana gelen negatif veya pozitif bir değişim ülke ekonomisi üzerinde önemli bir etki göstermektedir. Çalışmamızda veri tanımlaması yapıldıktan sonra, dönemler itibari ile önce Türkiye sonra Azerbaycan verileri üzerinde analizler yapılmış ve yorumlanmıştır. Değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemeden önce işsizlik ve enflasyon olguları tanımlanmış olup, bu sorunların nedenleri, türleri, nasıl ölçüleceği ele alınmıştır. Sonrasında, iki değişken arasındaki ilişkinin tarihsel açıdan hangi aşamalardan geçmiş olması, literatürde bu ilişkiyi ele almış olan ekollerin yorumlarına ve yaklaşımlarına yer verilmiştir. 1996-2021 yılları arasındaki enflasyon (TÜFE) ile işsizlik oranı verileri önce Türkiye sonra Azerbaycan ekonomisi için incelenmiştir, değişkenler arasında nasıl bir ilişki olduğunu saptayabilmek için Granger Nedensellik ve VAR Modeli ile analiz yapılmıştır. Yapılmış olan Nedensellik test sonucuna göre değişkenler arasında, Türkiye ekonomisi için; Varyans ayrıştırması ve nedensellik testi Philips eğrisindeki hipoteze aykırı nitelikte olup enflasyonun olduğu bir ortamda işsizliğin olmayacağı savını desteklememektedir. Azerbaycan için çıkan bu sonuç Varyans ayrıştırmasında çıkan sonuçla tutarlıdır. Varyans ayrıştırması ve nedensellik testi Philips eğrisindeki hipotezi destekler nitelikte olup enflasyonun olduğu bir ortamda işsizliğin olmayacağı savını desteklemektedir.

In this study, the relationship between the inflation rate and unemployment rate of the Turkish and Azerbaijan economies covering the years 1996-2021 has been tried to be interpreted through the Phillips curve. A negative or positive change in these two variables has a significant impact on the country's economy. After defining the data in our study, analyzes were made and interpreted on the data of Turkey and then Azerbaijan by periods. Before examining the relationship between the variables, the phenomena of unemployment and inflation were defined, and the reasons, types and how to measure these problems were discussed. Afterwards, the historical stages of the relationship between the two variables, and the interpretations and approaches of the schools that have dealt with this relationship in the literature are given. Inflation (CPI) and unemployment rate data between 1996-2021 were analyzed first for the Turkish economy and then for the Azerbaijan economy. In order to determine the relationship between the variables, the Granger Causality and VAR Model was analyzed. According to the results of the causality test, among the variables, for the Turkish economy; Variance decomposition and causality test are contrary to the hypothesis in the Philips curve and do not support the argument that there will be no unemployment in an environment of inflation. This result for Azerbaijan is consistent with the result obtained in the variance decomposition. Variance decomposition and causality test support the hypothesis in the Philips curve and support the argument that there will be no unemployment in an environment of inflation.
