Abstract: Bu tez, Petrov-Galerkin yöntemine dayalı olarak Burgers denkleminin nümerik çözümlerini araştırmayı amaç edinir. Bunu gerçekleştirebilmek için lineer B-spline ve kuadratik B-spline yaklaşımları kullanılmıştır. Hesaplanan çözümler hem nitel hem de nicel olarak sunulmaktadır. Mevcut sonuçlarla literatür ve analitik çözümler arasında çok iyi bir uyum gözlenmiştir. Çözümlerin hesaplaması, burada üretilen MATLAB kodları ile yapılmıştır.
The aim of this thesis is to investigate numerical solutions of the Burgers equation in terms of the Petrov-Galerkin Finite Element Method. To achive this, both linear B-spline and quadratic B-spline approaches have been used. The computed solutions have been present qualitatively and quantitatively. Very good agreement between the current results and the literature as well as the analytical solutions has been observed. The solutions have been calculated through currently produced computer codes in MATLAB.
