Denizli ili emekli sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin sosyal bilgiler öğretmenliği mesleğine yönelik deneyimleri

Abstract

Emekli sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin deneyimlerinden faydalanmayı amaçlayan bu çalışma, görüşülen kişilerin anlatılarını öğretim programı, eğitim politikası, çevresel etkiler bağlamında değerlendirmeyi hedeflemektedir. Genellemeye ya da toplumsal bir sonuca ulaşmaya çalışmayan araştırmada nitel yöntemlerden sözlü tarih tercih edilmiştir. Araştırmada Denizli ilinde yaşayan 5 kadın 6 erkek toplam 11 emekli sosyal bilgiler öğretmeniyle yapılan görüşmeler kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada amaçlı örneklem seçilmiş ve kişilere kartopu yöntemi ile ulaşılmıştır. Sözlü tarih yöntemine uygun olarak hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış ve açık uçlu sorular emekli sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerine yöneltilmiştir. Görüşmeler sesli olarak kaydedilmiş ve görüşmelerin birebir çözümlemelerinden elde edilen veriler araştırmanın amaçları bağlamında temalar oluşturularak analiz edilmiştir. Bu temalar emekli öğretmenlerin sorulan sorulara verdikleri yanıtlardan oluşturulmuş ve bulgular bu temalar altında değerlendirilmiştir. Görüşülen emekli sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin mesleki deneyimlerini incelemek ve günümüze katkılarını değerlendirmek için yapılan bu çalışmadan çıkan bulgular incelendiğinde emekli öğretmenlerin mesleki deneyimlerini etkileyen unsurların büyük oranda eğitim aldıkları okullar ve etkilendikleri öğretmenleri olduğu söylenebilir. Ailevi durumlar, öğretmenlik yaptıkları dönem, öğrenci profilleri ve okulun teknik imkânları emekli öğretmenlerin meslek deneyimlerini daha az etkileyen unsurlar olduğu öğretmen anlatılarından çıkarılan bulgulardandır. Öğretmen okulu ve başka liselerden mezun olan emekli öğretmenlerin sosyal bilgiler dersinde kullanılan öğretim yöntem ve teknikleri bakımından farklılıklar olduğu ortaya çıkartılmıştır. Rehberlik, idealist olma, fedakârlık bakımlarından ise öğretmenler benzer eğilimler göstermişlerdir. Sonuç kısmında sözlü tarih görüşmelerinden elde edilen bulgular ışığında emekli sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin mesleki deneyimleri ile ilgili değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır. Öneriler kısmında bulgular ve elde edilen sonuçlar ekseninde araştırmacılara, öğretmenlere ve eğitim kurumlarına önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

This study which its purpose was to benefit from the experiences of retired social studies teachers was aimed to evaluate the interviewees' narratives in terms of curriculum, educational policy, environmental impacts. In this study, oral history from qualitative research methods was preferred that did not attempt to reach a social outcome. In the study, the interviews were used with 11 retired social studies teachers, 5 female and 6 male, living in Denizli. The participants were selected by using from the snowball sampling method which was one of purposive sampling methods. Semi-structured and open-ended questions prepared according to the oral history method were directed to retired social studies teachers. The interviews were recorded and the data were obtained by transcribing these recordings verbatim. These data were analyzed by creating themes in the context of the objectives of the study. The themes were formed by using retired teachers’ responses to the asked questions and the findings were evaluated under these themes. When considered the findings from this study which was realized to examine the professional experience of interviewed retired social studies teachers and to evaluate their contributions to the present days, it could be said that the factors affecting the professional experience of retired teachers are the schools where they were educated and the teachers they were influenced. Familial situations, the period they were teachers, their students’ profiles and the technical possibilities of their schools were factors that had less influences on the professional experience of retired teachers. It was revealed that there were differences in the teaching methods and techniques used in the social studies course of retired teachers who graduated from teacher’s training school and other high schools. They showed similar tendencies for guidance, idealism and sacrifice. As a conclusion, the professional experiences of retired social studies teachers was evaluated in the direction of the findings from oral history interviews. In the suggestion section, the advices were given to researchers, teachers and educational institutions on the basis of the findings and the results.
