Fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının temel fizik kavramlarıyla ilgili konu alan bilgilerinin değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Toplumun şekillenmesinde en büyük rolü oynayan öğretmenin, eğitimsel bilgilerinin yanında alan bilgisinin de yeterli olması beklenmektedir. Son yıllarda hem yurtiçinde hem de yurtdışında konu alan bilgisinin önemine dair yapılan araştırmalarda artış gözlenmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının temel fizik konularındaki bilgilerini araştırmaktır. Bu araştırma, 2007- 2008 eğitim- öğretim yılında Pamukkale Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi İlköğretim Bölümü Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği A.B.D' da yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın veri toplama süreci Ekim 2007- Mayıs 2008 dönemleri arasıdır. Araştırmanın veri analizi bilgisayar ortamında SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Studies) paket programı kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmada öğrencilere çoktan seçmeli ve açık uçlu olmak üzere iki farklı tipte soru yöneltilmiştir. Bu araştırma sonucunda, fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının fizik konularındaki bilgilerinin yeterli olmadığı sonucuna varılabilir. Ayrıca temel fizik konu alan bilgilerinin sınıf düzeyinde ve öğretim düzeyinde anlamlı farklılıklar ortaya koymasına karşın mezun olunan lise türünde ve cinsiyet açısından anlamlı bir farklılığa rastlanmamıştır.

Teachers who have the greatest role in the development of the society need to have qualified with subject matter knowledge as well pedagogical knowledge. In the recent years, both in our country and the other countries there has been an increase in the research emphasizing the importance of the subject matter knowledge. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to investigate the subject matter knowledge of preservice science teachers about basic physics concepts. This study was conducted in the Science Teacher Education Program of Elementary Education Department at Pamukkale University in the education years of 2007-2008. Data were collected through the period from October to May. Data were collected through two types of questions in the form of multiple choices and open-ended. Data were analyzed by using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Studies). As a result of the study, it could be concluded that the subject matter knowledge of pre-service science teachers about physics were not satisfactory. There were significant differences in the subject matter knowledge of the pre-service science teachers with regard to education level and type of education whereas there were no significant differences with regard to their type of high schools they graduated and their gender.
