The relationship between negative automatic thoughts and intrinsic achievement motivation was fully mediated by learning goal orientation. Hierarchical regression analysis indicated that self-handicapping and learning and performance goal orientations variables did not moderate the relationship between negative automatic thoughts and intrinsic achievement motivation.
