Abstract: Emerged in the second half of the 20th century, conceptual art is an understanding of art which questions the relationship of art with the conveying object, features its intellectual aspect rather than mere aesthetic pleasure, and contains different and eclectic compositions. The purpose of the current study is to identify the views of visual arts teacher candidates studying at Pamukkale University on conceptual arts. In this sense, convenience purposive sampling within qualitative research was used. As for the data gathering instrument, an open-ended question form was used in order for students to express their views in writing. The questions were finalized through expert opinion of three faculty members in the area. 47 students studying at 4th year answered the questions. The answers were analysed through descriptive content analysis and themes and concept codes were identified. The findings were then interpreted by the researchers. In the results section, various conclusions were drawn. (C) 2015 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
