Bu bağlamda yapılan tez çalışması; İzmir Saat Kulesi, İzmir Belediye Binası, İzmir Gümrük Depoları, İzmir Gureba-i Müslim’in Hastanesi, İzmir Hamidiye Mekteb-i Sanayii, İzmir Askeri Hastane ve Pasaport İskelesi’ndeki binalardan oluşmaktadır. -en_US
dc.description.abstractİzmir has been home to many civilizations throughout the history. The city was conquered in by Aydınoglu Umur Bey in 1317. Thus, the first Turkish dominance in İzmir was exercised. The second Turkish dominance in the city took place during the reign of Murat II. İzmir was the second largest city in the Ottoman Empire due to its strategic location and volume of trade. The trading volume started to increase in the second half of 19th century. Together with the increase in trade, foreigners became interested in the city and obtained the concession over railway and dock building. As a result of this concession, they built railways, dock and customs buildings in the areas provided to them. With the increasing westernization process after the announcement of Tanzimat reform, new building types were also added into Ottoman Architecture. Post office buildings, hospitals, high school, police station, government office, banks, train station, customs office and clock tower are among the examples of public building architecture. Such building types became especially common during the reign of II. Abdulhamid. In this context, this study deals with the buildings of İzmir Clock Tower, İzmir Municipality Building, İzmir Customs Warehouse, Hospital of İzmir Gureba-i Müslim’in, İzmir Hamidiye Industry School, İzmir Military Hospital, and Passport Pier. These buildings were handled in terms of their architecture and their contributions to the city were also explained.en_US
