Title: | PAMUKKALE ÜNİVERSİTESİ SAĞLIK ARAŞTIRMA VE UYGULAMA MERKEZİ HEMATOLOJİ SERVİSİ VE KEMİK İLİĞİ TRANSPLANTASYON ÜNİTESİ’NDE YATMAKTA OLAN HASTALARDA İNVAZİV FUNGAL İNFEKSİYONLARIN TEDAVİ MALİYETİ | Authors: | TEKİN, EMİN EGEMEN | Advisors: | EMİN EGEMEN TEKİN | Keywords: | haematologic malignity, invasive fungal infection, antifungal therapy, cost, length of stay. | Publisher: | EMİN EGEMEN TEKİN | Abstract: | Treatment Cost of İnvasive Fungal İnfections for the Patients in Pamukkale University Health Research and Training Centre Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation Units Dr. Emin Egemen Tekin The aim of this study is to determine the impact of the fungal infections; which became more important and causes much economic loss in Türkiye, on hospital costs and reveal new solutions to reduce the cost. Totally 854 inpatients; 756 of them from Haematology unit and 98 from bone marrow transplantation unit were followed up in one year. 52 patients who were diagnosed with invasive fungal infections from 245 haematologically ill patiens were included to case group. 52 patients who wouldn’t suffer from fungal infections in 347 patient goup, were defined as the control group, either. These two groups were similiar about sex, diagnosis and comorbidities. At the end of this study, it was found statistically difference about length of stay, mean hospitalization costs, drug, medication costs and also total costs between case and control groups. It was found that 2512.1 $ of additional cost occurs if a haematologically ill patient had invasive fungal infection. It was assumed that invasive fungal infections, length of stay and persistance of fever were the indipendent factors to develop higher costs. The most used antifungal agent which takes the biggest ratio from all-over cost was voriconazole. The highest rate in daily mean drug cost was L-AmpB. If the ratios of antifungal drugs in total drug cost and total inpatience cost were compared; it was seen highest for L-AmB and lowest for C-AmB. As a result, invasive fungal infecitons occur in febrile neutropenic patients, may cause increased length of stay, daily mean and total hospitalization costs. More studies about this issue should be done to determine our country’s results and to determine the importance of prevention strategies of invasive fungal infections. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/11499/263 |
