Sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin çokkültürlü eğitime yönelik eğilimleri

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı İstanbul’un Bahçelievler, Bakırköy ve Küçükçekmece ilçelerinin devlet ortaokullarında görev yapan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin çokkültürlü eğitime yönelik eğilimlerini incelemektir. Araştırmada nicel araştırma desenlerinden tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılında İstanbul’un Bahçelievler, Bakırköy ve Küçükçekmece ilçelerine bağlı devlet ortaokullarında görev yapan 341 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni oluşturmuştur. Araştırmaya 262 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni katılım göstermiştir. Araştırmada veri toplamak amacıyla “Öğretmenler İçin Çokkültürlü Eğitime Yönelik Eğilim Anketi” kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler bilgisayarda SPSS 21.00 programında çözümlenmiş ve bulgular araştırmanın amaçlarına uygun olarak tablolar halinde sunulmuştur. Araştırmada sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin çokkültürlü eğitime yönelik eğilimleri cinsiyet, yaş, öğrenim durumu ve görev yaptığı ilçe değişkenlerine göre incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucu genel olarak incelendiğinde sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin çokkültürlü eğitime yönelik eğilimlerinin ortalamanın üzerinde olduğu görülmüştür. Sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerin çokkültürlü eğitime yönelik eğilimlerinde genel olarak öğretmenlerin cinsiyetine, yaşına, öğrenim durumlarına ve görev yaptıkları ilçelere göre anlamlı farklar bulunmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda kadın sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerin çokkültürlü eğitime yönelik eğilimleri erkek sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerin eğilimlerine göre daha yüksek çıkarken, yaş değişkeni incelendiğinde ise yaşları 31 - 40 arasında olan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerin çokkültürlü eğitime yönelik eğilimleri daha yüksek çıkmıştır. Öğrenim durumları incelendiğinde yüksek lisans mezunu olan öğretmenlerin çokkültürlü eğitime yönelik eğilimleri lisans mezunu öğretmenlerin eğilimlerine göre daha olumlu bulunmuştur. Ayrıca ilçe değişkeni incelendiğinde, Küçükçekmece ilçesinde görev yapan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin çokkültürlü eğitime yönelik eğilimleri Bahçelievler ve Bakırköy ilçelerinde görev yapan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerin eğilimlerine göre daha yüksek çıkmıştır.

The aim of this study is to investigate the tendencies of social studies teachers who work in the state secondary schools of Bahçelievler, Bakırköy and Küçükçekmece districts of Istanbul towards multicultural education. In the research, survey model which is one of the quantitative research designs was used. The study group consisted of 341 social studies teachers who work in public secondary schools of Bahçelievler, Bakırköy and Küçükçekmece districts of Istanbul in 2018-2019 academic year. A total of 262 social studies teachers participated in the study. In order to collect data, ‘Tendency Questionnaire for Multicultural Education for Teachers ‘ was used. The data were analyzed by SPSS 21.00 on computer and the findings were presented in tables based on the purposes of the research. In the research, the tendencies of social studies teachers towards multicultural education were examined according to gender, age, educational background and district variables. When the results of the study were examined in general, it was seen that the tendencies of social studies teachers towards multicultural education was above average. Significant different meanings were found in the tendencies of social studies teachers towards multicultural education according to teachers' gender, age, education level and districts where they worked.As a result of the research, while the tendencies of female social sciences teachers towards multicultural education is higher than male social studies teachers' tendencies, when the age variable is examined, the tendencies of social studies teachers between the ages of 31-40 is higher for multicultural education. When education levels were examined, it was found that the tendencies of the post-graduate graduates towards multicultural education was more positive than the tendencies of the graduate graduates. In addition, when the district variable was examined, the tendencies of social studies teachers who work in Küçükçekmece district towards multicultural education was higher than the tendencies of social studies teachers who work in Bahçelievler and Bakırköy districts.
