Duygusal emek bağlamında çalışmanın anlamı ve işe yabancılaşma

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, çalışmanın anlamını ve yabancılaşma olgusunu duygusal emek bağlamında incelemektir. Araştırmada, duygusal emek faktörünün işin anlamını ve yabancılaşmayı nasıl etkilediği ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Hizmet sektörünün büyümesiyle giderek daha belirgin hale gelen duygusal emek faktörünün, işin anlamını nasıl etkilediği ve bu emek türünün işçiler üzerinde ne gibi etkileri olduğunu saptamak araştırmanın ortaya çıkış nedenlerinden biridir. Bu bağlamda, duygusal emeği kullanan bir meslek grubu olarak kuaförler incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın bir diğer amacı, kuaförlerin çalışma yaşamlarında karşılaştıkları sorunları görünür kılmaktır. Konuyu daha derinlemesine araştırmak için nitel yöntem kullanılmış ve otuz kuaförle yüz yüze yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Görüşmecilerin büyük çoğunluğu en fazla karşılaştıkları sağlık sorununun stres olduğunu ve fiziksel yorgunluk yaşadıkları gibi, duygusal yorgunluk da yaşadıklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Araştırmanın sonucunda duygusal emek gösteriminin işin anlamını önemli ölçüde etkilediği anlaşılmıştır. Müşteriyle etkileşimin yüksek olduğu bu meslek grubunda, kurulan diyalogların ve işçilerden beklenen duygusal taleplerin işe ilişkin tutumların belirlenmesinde etkili olduğu gözlenmiştir. Duygusal emek gösterimi –bazı durumlarda- işe yüklenen anlamın azalmasına yol açmakta ve duygusal çelişkiye neden olmaktadır. Araştırmanın sonucunda kuaförlerin yüzeysel duygusal emek davranışları gösterdikleri ve bu davranışların duygusal çelişki ve yabancılaşmaya neden olabileceği saptanmıştır. The aim of this study is to explore the meaning of work and the fact of alienation in the context of emotional labor. We have, throughout the study, tried to show how emotional labor, as a factor, affects the meaning of job and alienation. The question of how the factor of emotional labor, which became more visible as the service industry expands, affects the meaning of work, to find out impacts of this kind of labor and its impacts on workers as the reasons of this research. In this context, hairdressers have been interviewed as a sector involving emotional labor. Another purpose of the research is to make visible the problems visible that hairdressers experience through their work life. In order for us to explore the subject matter in more detail, qualitative technique has been used and face to face semi structured interviews have been carried out with thirty hairdressers. Most of the interviewers have stated that most faced health problems are stress and physical fatigue, as well as emotional fatigue. It has, at the end of research, been understood that emotional labor affects the meaning of work to a great level. It has been observed that dialogues and emotional demands that hairdressers are supposed to show during interacting with costomers are effective in identifying attitudes towards work. Showing the emotional labor –in some cases- causes a diminution in the meaning of work and causes emotional contradiction. At the end of the research, it has been observed that hairdressers show superficial emotional labor behaviors and that these behaviors may be the causes of their emotional contradiction and alienation.
