Abstract: In his manuscript Tezkire-i Sheikh Safi, Neshati, one of the most important personalities of the sixteenth century Azerbaijani literature, has translated the Persian manuscript Safvetü’s-Safa of Ibn-i Bezzaz, which contains information about the life and faith of the Seikh Safi-ad-din Ardabil of Ardabil Darvish Lodge, to Turkish. Tezkire-i Sheikh Safi is very valuable for Turkish linguistic researches as it contains the phonological, morphological and lexicological features of Old Anatolian Turkic, Azerbaijani Turkic and Chagatai Turkic. Also, the orthography that is different from the classical orthography features of the related period increases the value of this manuscript. This study will focus on extraordinary orthography characteristics of Tezkire-i Sheikh Safi and some reading hesitations. © 2019 Hacettepe University 1. All rights reserved.
