Title: Efforts to Disseminate and Costs of Preschool Education in Turkey (Years from 1990 to 2002)

Abstract: In this study, number of schools-teachers-students, schooling rates and expenditures in preschool education in Turkey have been analyzed. Besides, the developments in Turkey were compared to the developments in OECD countries. The research is quantitative and descriptive and conducted through "survey research" model. The research covers a period of 13 years (1990-2002). All preschools (state/private) in Turkey included in the study. Findings demonstrated that, schooling rate, number of students and schools in Turkey has increased every year but expenditure per student has decreased. Findings are discussed in relation to the literature and implications for future research are provided.
