Beşinci sınıf matematik ders kitaplarındaki temsillerin öğretim programındaki kök değerler bağlamında incelenmesi

Abstract

Değerlere son zamanlarda atfedilen önemin temel göstergelerinden biri, ders kitaplarının, öğretim programlarındaki kök değerleri yansıtacak şekilde yazılmasına dönük çabalardır. Matematik ders kitaplarının da değerleri içeren mesajları taşıyan uygun bir zemin olduğunu araştırmalar işaret etmektedir. Dolayısıyla bu çalışmanın amacı matematik ders kitaplarının programda yer alan kök değerleri yansıtma durumlarını incelemektir. Nitel olarak yürütülen ve doküman incelemesine dayanan bu araştırmanın veri kaynaklarını, benzeşik örneklem tekniğiyle belirlenen biri resmi diğeri özel bir yayınevine ait iki adet beşinci sınıf matematik ders kitabı oluşturmaktadır. Veri çözümleme sürecinde, kök değerler bir ön çerçeve oluşturduğu için betimsel analiz temel alınmış; kitaplardaki metin, görsel, alıştırma, soru gibi tüm unsurlar incelenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular hem sayısal değerleri de içeren özetleyici tablolar halinde hem de her bir kök değeri yansıtan örneklerle destekli şekilde sunulmuştur. Bulgular, her iki kitapta da kök değerlerin tamamına yer verildiğini, en çok yer verilen iki değerin sırasıyla vatanseverlik ve sorumluluk, en az yer verilen değerin ise dürüstlük olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca kitaplarda sabır, dostluk, adalet, sevgi, yardımseverlik ve saygı değerlerinin yakın sıklıklarda yer aldığı; resmi ve özel yayıncılık açısından da değerlerin temsil sıklıklarının paralel olduğu gözlenmiştir. Bulgulardan hareketle, öğretmenlerin az temsil edilen değerler açısından destekleyici bir rol oynamaları gereğine; kitapların yeni baskılarında ise bu değerleri yansıtan daha çok temsile yer verilmesi ihtiyacına dikkat çekilebilir.

One of the main indicators of the importance recently attributed to values is the efforts to write textbooks in a way that reflects the root values placed in the curriculum. Research indicates that mathematics textbooks are also a suitable basis for carrying messages containing values. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine how the mathematics textbooks reflect the root values placed in the curriculum. The data sources of this qualitative study, which is based on document analysis, consist of two fifth grade mathematics textbooks, one official and the other belonging to a private publishing company, determined by homogeneous sampling technique. In the data analysis process, descriptive analysis was used since the root values form a preliminary framework for analysis. All elements in the books such as text, visuals, exercises and questions were examined one by one. The findings were presented both in the form of summative tables including numerical values and with examples from the books reflecting each root values. The findings show that all root values were included in both books, the two most frequently represented values were patriotism and responsibility, and the least represented value was honesty. In addition, the values of patience, friendship, justice, love, benevolence and respect were represented in close frequencies in the books. It has also been observed that the frequency of representation of values is parallel in terms of official and private publication. It could be said that it is necessary for teachers to play a supportive role in terms of under-represented values. In the new editions of the books, attention can be drawn to the need to include more representations reflecting these values.
