Career Stress Determinants of the Students in Faculty of Sports Sciences

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the career stress determinantsof the students in the Faculty of Sports Sciences. The average age ofstudents is 21.39±2.60 (male n = 169, female n = 111). “Korean CareerStress Scale” developed by Choi et al. (2011) and adapted to Turkish byÖzden and Sertel-Berk (2017) was used as data collection tool. Nosignificant difference was found between the scores obtained from thescale and gender, age and the status of doing sports. A statisticallysignificant difference was found between the scale scores of thestudents and the sub-dimension of “employment pressure” accordingto the grade variable and the total score and the “career ambiguity andlacking information” sub-dimension according to the departmentvariable. As a result, it was determined that students experienced the“employment pressure” as their grade levels increased and theyexperienced the stress of “career ambiguity and lack of information”when the education department differed.
